November 28, 2016 – The NBA Development League today announced that Greensboro Swarm guard Xavier Munford was named this week’s NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played Monday, Nov. 21 through Sunday, Nov. 27.
During the Swarm’s 2-1 week, Munford (6-3, 180, Rhode Island) averaged 27.7 points on 51.9 percent shooting (27-of-52) while also going 43.8 percent (7-of-16) from three-point range. In addition to his impressive scoring feat, Munford averaged 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals over the three-game stretch. In a matchup against the Delaware 87ers on Nov. 21, he scored a season-high 34 points on 13-of-26 shooting to mark his second 30-plus point performance of the season. On Nov. 25, Munford notched 26 points, seven rebounds and four steals in a 109-88 victory over the Erie BayHawks. In the second game of a back-to-back with the BayHawks on Nov. 26, he posted 23 points and three assists in the Swarm’s 96-95 win.
Last season, Munford averaged 20.5 points, 6.4 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 42 games with the Bakersfield Jam and was named to the Western Conference NBA D-League All-Star team. He then played in 14 games with the Memphis Grizzlies to finish out the 2015-16 NBA season. The Swarm acquired the returning player rights to Munford on Oct. 29 in a trade with the Northern Arizona Suns and he officially joined the team’s roster on Nov. 11.
